Social Media Week 2012 has officially begun! Kicking off today in 12 cities worldwide, with over 1000 events taking place, and you don’t even need to leave your couch to join in! The mission of SMW2012 is to explore how local and regional societies, cultures, and economies are becoming more integrated and empowered through a global network of connection.

The beauty of social media is that you can join the events virtually, without having to travel to physically attend an event.  For exclusive updates on different events that are happening, a good account to follow is the official Social Media Week Twitter account; @socialmediaweek.
